Recycling is a key component of our sustainability strategy, particularly in our Fiber business, where we utilize post-consumer recycled materials to manufacture new products. This approach reinforces our commitment to circularity and environmental responsibility.
As a contributor to the circular economy, TekniPlex processes fiber-based recycled materials such as newspaper and old corrugated containers (OCC) to manufacture sustainable molded fiber products, including:
- Molded fiber egg cartons
- Produce trays
- Protective shipping solutions for wine and fragile goods
We operate eight dedicated molded fiber facilities:
- Mexico (Apodaca, Guadalajara, Hermosillo, Cuernavaca, Guadalupe)
- USA (Wenatchee, Tacoma, Van Wert)
In 2024, TekniPlex reinforced its sustainability commitment with a new 200,000-square-foot facility in Van Wert, Ohio, A State-of-the-Art Facility specializing in molded fiber solutions. This facility:
- Will process around 55,000 tons of recycled material annually
- Converts fiber-based waste into high-quality molded fiber products
TekniPlex is using an advanced molded fiber solution for protective packaging that:
- Maintains the same high-performance protection
- Uses recycled fiber content to reduce environmental impact
- Enhances end-of-life recyclability
