Transforming Liquid Anesthetic Packaging for Enhanced Safety and Efficiency
A pharmaceutical manufacturer was facing significant challenges with its use of large-volume glass bottles for liquid anesthetic solutions. These bottles, designed with a luer lock finish for multiple syringe doses, posed safety risks due to their fragility, creating hazards in clinical environments for both patients and healthcare professionals. Additionally, their weight led to increased transportation costs and required extra protective packaging. The inherent properties of glass—its heaviness and susceptibility to breakage—resulted in about 3% breakage during manufacturing, posing safety concerns and operational inefficiencies. Furthermore, the large-volume bottles lacked the precision of single-dose containers, leading to potential waste. To address these issues, TekniPlex Healthcare introduced a 10ml injection-molded polypropylene (PP) single-dose vial.
