TekniPlex Healthcare recently updated its organizational structure and will now operate through two core segments: MedTech Solutions and Barrier Protection Systems.

The MedTech Solutions segment serves the medical device industry, with materials science expertise, design, and precision manufacturing, covering a broad portfolio of compounds, tubing, metalworking, and engineering services.

The Barrier Protection Systems segment encompasses pharmaceutical delivery systems and medical barrier systems which include sterile barrier solutions, coated and laminated blister films, and molding solutions.

New Facility Details

Located at 6002 Femrite Dr., Madison, WI 53718 – our second healthcare facility in the city, and coined as “South Madison” to differentiate it from our original “Madison” facility, is a newly constructed building encompassing 200,000 square feet under roof. The plant is ISO 13485:2016 ISO-certified and aligns with the newly formed Barrier Protection Systems segment.

The plant currently features a sophisticated new air knife coater that allows TekniPlex Healthcare to significantly increase its supply of coated Tyvek® and heat seal coated reinforced papers for various medical device, pharmaceutical, and diagnostic applications, reinforcing the division’s long-term commitment to serving customers in this space. The plant also features a new wide-width eight-color high-definition flexographic printing press, allowing us to meet the critical printing needs of both the medical device and pharmaceutical industries.

The plant was built with a sustainability mindset and greatly minimizes waste, as only two sources of waste leave the facility – hand carried garbage bags and separated recycled waste. 95% or more of the waste regenerated at South Madison is recyclable. Two dedicated compactors are utilized for paper and plastic, and compressed air exhaust is also reclaimed to assist in the heating of the production area.

This facility serves a vital role in the production of solutions that protect medical devices and wound care products from contaminants, helping improve patient outcomes around the world.

The large facility allows for ample future expansion opportunities for the Healthcare division. The air knife coater and flexographic printer will soon be joined by other assets, including a second flexographic printer, a cantilevered slitter rewinder, and a reversible salvage rewinder. The division will continue to evaluate the remaining space for further expansion.
