Helping improve patient outcomes with precision fluid management solutions

Managing fluids—both liquids and gases—is critical in a variety of healthcare applications. In MedTech, these applications are prolific, including, but not limited to, intravenous therapy, dialysis, cardiopulmonary bypass, suction and irrigation, intubation, and much more. Fluid management is no less critical in the production of biopharmaceuticals.

Sample Intravenous Giving Set Applications

Infusion

Whenever a person experiences an illness that inhibits normal fluid intake or causes excessive fluid loss, fluid replacement will be required. Intravenous therapy provides the patient with life-sustaining fluids like sterile water, electrolytes, and dextrose and offers the advantage of immediate restorative effects.

Parenteral Feeding: The administration of nutrition

If a patient’s gut cannot absorb nutrients, nutrition must be delivered into the bloodstream, bypassing the gut. Parenteral nutrition is the intravenous administration of appropriate protein, carbohydrates, lipids, electrolytes, vitamins, and other trace minerals for patients who cannot eat or absorb enough food orally or through tube feeding to achieve their nutritional requirements.

Transfusion: The supply of blood and its components

A blood transfusion can replace the blood you have lost or just replace the liquid or cells found in blood, such as red blood cells, plasma, or cells called platelets. Blood transfusions are often needed following injury, certain surgeries – or to treat particular medical conditions.

Chest Drain: Thoracic Catheter

Chest drains provide a method of removing fluid substances from the pleural space. The idea is to create a one-way mechanism that will let fluid out of the pleural space and prevent outside air/ fluid from entering the pleural space.
