Wayne, Pa. (January 11, 2018) — Colorite, a Tekni-Plex business unit specializing in custom medical-grade compounds, will be discussing changing market trends for medical device applications at MD&M West, February 6-8, Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim, Calif., booth 1739.
The company will be discussing its well-known polyvinyl chloride (PVC) compound solutions, as well as its Cellene® line of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) compounds.
“Many companies are trying to proactively address new regulatory dynamics, both in the United States and in many other global regions,” said Ian Kenny, global managing director, Colorite. “While our PVC compound solutions will continue to be the product of choice for most applications around the world, some healthcare systems are already implementing strategic initiatives for phthalate-free patient environments. For those applications, our non-phthalate PVC compounds or our Cellene compounds are ideal. IV therapy producers have been among the first conversions in North America.”
Cellene TPEs are suitable for a wide variety of uses in medical devices, packaging and other regulated markets. Cellene compounds are formulated to be silicone, latex, phthalate, halogen and PVC-free using FDA-compliant raw materials to meet USP Class VI and ISO 10993 standards.
Colorite also is known as a global leader in clear PVC compounds for medical devices. It offers an extensive line of custom compound solutions suitable for extrusion, injection and blow molding processes. Colorite compounds are available with excellent gamma radiation resistance, as well as self-frosting and radiopaque materials.
